Interventional Radiology

Welcome to Interventional Radiology at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Interventional Radiology is a subspecialty of Radiology in which minimally invasive procedures are performed with the guidance of live images. Many conditions that once required surgery can be treated nonsurgically by an interventional radiologist. Through a small cut in the skin, the doctor uses catheters and instruments so small they can be run through a patient’s network of arteries to treat an illness or condition internally. While no treatment is risk free, the risks of interventional procedures are far lower than the risks of open surgery.

Our experienced team of board-certified interventional radiologists are committed to providing the best patient care for you and your loved ones.
